In the news
I have always been an avid reader of out local newspaper and read it daily. A lot of my co-workers also like to read the newspaper daily. Of course they only like to read the newspaper that someone else has purchased. Every morning I would get to work early and enjoy reading my newspaper with my coffee and breakfast, only to have bits and pieces of the newspaper borrowed away from me as my co-workers began arriving. By lunchtime I would be lucky to still have the classified ad section left, as the newspaper was by now scattered all over the office. I was at a loss as to how to keep from losing the newspaper to everyone in the office before I could finish reading it. Then the cost of the newspaper went up to a dollar a day and that was more than I was willing to spend on something I couldn't even finish reading. I resolved to not buy a newspaper anymore and to just read it online when I was at home. About this same time a new Deli opened up next door to my office and the owner installed a Wi-Fi connection for use by the customers. I had been eyeing the new netbooks that had just come out on the market, and I decided to buy one that was small and portable enough to carry with me to work. Now I get to enjoy my newspaper with my breakfast and lunch and keep up with my email and social networking sights. I had been looking at the Dell Mini and the Acer netbook, but decided on the ASUS EEPC 1000 because at the time it had a bigger hard drive, a pentium processor and expandable memory that was not available on the other netbooks, I love it, it almost does everything my bigger laptop does except there is no built in optical drive. I purchased it at Best Buy for $329 and I have had it over a year now, and with not buying the newspaper for $1.00 a day it has already paid for itself. The Big Plus is, no one is taking my newspaper away from me now.
